Boglands

Boglands, Non-Credit Courses
Boglands
I've always found boglands quite eery. The stillness of them. The flatness of the landscape. But I do love the textures and shapes that crops up. The lines of turf, the severe slopes. I thought the contours and hollows of the landscape would be perfect for print-making, allowing me to experiment with a variety of different mark-making techniques. I drew inspiration from the Donegal boglands, near where my family lives - a spooky pit-stop complete with crows and thunder clouds.

This image was printed from ordinary Tetra Pak packaging, right out of my recycling bin. I sketched out my image onto my cardboard canvas. carefully cutting and peeling away the negative space with a blade. I inked up my plate in a rusty shade of ink, mixing red and black ink until I felt I achieved that unique shade of farmland burgundy. Finally, I transferred my image onto a sheet of paper.
