Connection
This sculpture is about spiritual connection and human relationships, it is about family, home, feeling safe and being in a place that feels authentic and familiar. It conveys different concepts and emotional states that transcends geographical boundaries, and earthly confines. It serves as a reminder of the shared human longing for meaning, connection, and the experience of transcendence. Drawing upon elements from nature, such as the landscape, the ancestral home and topography to convey complex narratives and emotions. These elements intertwine with the overall message; a brass pillar symbolising connection to the earth, and granite signifying strength, all of which combine to embody transformation. The patina colours chosen, wield significant influence in the emotional landscape of the piece. For instance, bronze and gold may symbolise grandeur and heavenly aspirations, while blue, green tones evoke tranquillity and peace. These colours are chosen to elicit specific emotional responses, to convey mystery and depth.
